Recognizing the growing demand for continuous employee development and the varied training needs across industries, Lighthouse Group envisioned Qwalifi as a comprehensive solution that could bridge the gap between companies and expert trainers.
The platform allows companies to purchase training courses in two distinct formats:
- In-Person Training: Companies can book workshops with independent coaches who have listed their services on Qwalifi. These trainers, each with their own specialized expertise, come to the company’s location to conduct hands-on training tailored to the business’s specific needs.
- Online Training Programs: For organizations seeking more flexible learning options, Qwalifi offers the ability to purchase online training programs. These programs are delivered by experienced instructors through virtual platforms like Google Meet or Zoom, enabling businesses to train their employees remotely, irrespective of geographical constraints.
Qwalifi stands out by offering a diverse range of courses and training options, empowering companies to invest in their employees’ development through methods that best align with their operational needs and culture.
Challenges Faced
The development of Qwalifi was not without its challenges. Lighthouse Group faced a myriad of obstacles in transforming their vision into a tangible, functional platform:
- Complexity of the Platform: The primary challenge was to create a platform that could handle the dual nature of Qwalifi’s offerings—facilitating both in-person and online training. This required the design of a system that was flexible enough to manage varying types of training sessions, from scheduling and booking to payment processing and trainer coordination.
- Trainer Integration: Qwalifi needed a way to onboard and manage a diverse group of independent trainers, each with their own schedules, pricing models, and areas of expertise. Ensuring that these trainers could easily list their services, manage their availability, and interact with companies required a robust and intuitive backend system.
- User Experience: The platform needed to be user-friendly and intuitive, catering to both companies looking to purchase training and trainers offering their services. It was crucial to design an interface that would make it easy for companies to search for and select the right courses while ensuring that trainers could manage their profiles and bookings effortlessly.
- Security and Trust: With financial transactions being a core part of the platform, ensuring the security of payment processing and maintaining the trust of both companies and trainers was essential. The platform also needed to facilitate clear and reliable communication between all parties involved.

Alite Projects was brought on board to overcome these challenges and bring Lighthouse Group’s vision for Qwalifi to life. Our approach was comprehensive, involving close collaboration with Lighthouse Group to ensure that every aspect of the platform aligned with their strategic goals and vision for Qwalifi.
- Platform Architecture and Technology Stack: We built Qwalifi using MeteorJS, a full-stack JavaScript framework known for its real-time application capabilities, ensuring that users experience seamless interactions. The platform is supported by MongoDB, a NoSQL database that offers flexibility and scalability, ideal for managing the diverse data generated by Qwalifi’s users. For image and document storage, we integrated Cloudinary and Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3, ensuring that all media assets are securely stored and easily accessible.
- Facilitator Onboarding and Management System: To address the challenge of integrating independent trainers (Facilitator), we developed a sophisticated backend system that allows facilitators to create and manage their profiles, list their courses, set their availability, and communicate with potential clients directly through the platform. This system was built to be user-friendly, ensuring that facilitators could easily navigate the process of joining and offering their services on Qwalifi.
- Secure Payment Gateway: We integrated a secure payment gateway that supports various payment methods, ensuring that transactions between companies and trainers are processed efficiently and safely. This not only enhances the user experience but also builds trust among users, knowing that their financial information is protected.
- Ongoing Support and Scalability: Understanding the need for scalability, we built Qwalifi on a robust framework that can handle increasing numbers of users, courses, and transactions. Additionally, we provided ongoing support and maintenance to ensure that the platform remains up-to-date with the latest technological advancements and user needs.
